The farmers market at Clark Park in Tempe, located at 1730 S Roosevelt St, is a very small market.

The market, ran on Saturday mornings, includes locally crafted wares, locally grown produce, yoga and a stand that sells sweaters for dogs.

The Clark Park market is an extension of the Clark Park community garden. The garden was built in what remains of the now empty Clark Park community pool.

According to Ken Perron, one of the organizers of the market, the idea of holding a farmers market came to the community last year, as members of the garden wanted to sell the goods they have grown.

Now in the its second season, the Clark Park Farmers Market plays host to its own garden as well as numerous local farming groups, including Maya’s Farm and Abby Lee’s farm.

Also available in the market is locally harvested honey, locally crafted soaps and music played by local performers.

Despite this, the Clark Park market is smaller than most farmers markets. You can walk across the farmers market in all of 30 seconds. It’s size serves as a reminder for visitors that this is a community garden’s market.

The small scale operation is homey and emphasizes community.
